Metro core or interoffice facility (IOF) rings interconnect edge rings and deliver traffic to service points of presence (PoPs). Cisco's reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (ROADM) technology delivers dynamic and automated signal conditioning along with sophisticated power control algorithms providing levels of operational efficiency and flexibility previously unattainable.

Support for at least 32 wavelengths per fiber pair, are available for use at network concentration points. Used in tandem with Cisco's market leading MSPPs at the metro edge, Wireline Carriers can deliver much greater bandwidth with more service offerings than ever before.
